The WaveBL platform manages users under two primary role categories:
Account Level:

- Account Admin - Has full control over the account, including access to Reports and subscription management under Plans & Pricing.
- Account User - Has access to assigned Business Units (BUs) and can perform actions based on their role within the BU.
Business Unit Level:

- User
- Business Unit Administrator
- Address Book Manager
- Export User / Import User (available only for Enterprise accounts)
- Maker / Checker (available only for Banking accounts)
Every user should be assigned to a business unit and get a role. This guide explains the specific actions and permissions associated with each role.
Note: By default, new users can receive email notifications and have "Edit Address Book" permission to manage Address Book actions, such as importing external Business Unit Cards and sending/accepting invitations. These can be adjusted later.
Important: All users, except the Address Book Manager, can take actions on eBLs, House eBLs, and other documents based on their assigned roles and permissions.
User Roles and Permissions
Business Unit Administrator Permissions:

- Manage the assigned Business Unit (branch).
- Manage Users: Add new users, assign roles, set permissions, configure email notifications, and remove users from the Business Unit.
- On a Network level, the "Edit Address Book" permission is part of the user role.
- On Enterprise accounts, access to Sent eBL and Possession reports.
User Permissions:

- By default, new users have "Edit Address Book" permissions and receive email notifications. These can be adjusted later.
- If assigned as an existing user, "Edit Address Book" permission and email notifications should be set as needed.
- A user without the "Edit Address Book" permission cannot send or accept invitations and cannot import external Business Unit Cards.
Address Book Manager Permissions:

- Can send and accept invitations.
- Can import external Business Unit Cards.
- Note: This role does not have permission to send unique documents (eBL or House eBL).
Enterprise-Specific Roles
Export User / Import User

- Provides customized views and features to manage export and import operations effectively.
- Export User can see only eBLs where the assigned business unit is the Shipper or On behalf of the Shipper.
- Import User can see only eBLs where the assigned business unit is the Consignee.
Role for Carrier and NVOCC
Issuer

- Authorized to issue unique documents (eBL or House eBL).
- By default, new issuers have "Edit Address Book" permissions enabled.
- Note: Without "Edit Address Book" permission, an Issuer cannot send/accept invitations or import external Business Unit Cards.
Roles for Banks
The following roles are available:
Maker - Initiates transactions or actions that require approval.
Checker - Reviews and approves transactions initiated by the Maker.
